Revere Mayor Daniel Rizzo, a casino supporter, was ?undeterred by yesterday’s ?Supreme Judicial Court ruling that put a casino repeal question on the November ballot. Those in favor of the Revere project lined the sidewalks with signs printed with a Mohegan Sun logo, while those against used handmade signs and buttons to make their point.
More than 400 turned out at Revere High School for a public hearing by the commission that will award the sole eastern Massachusetts casino license to either Mohegan Sun’s proposal at Suffolk Downs in Revere or Wynn Resorts’ Everett plan. A small band of anti-casino activists squared off against a much larger pro-casino group in Revere last night as both sides sought to woo the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.
